For those a little puzzled by the name of our nursery shop, a stillroom referred in earlier times to a room where herbs were processed to make a wide range of fragrant and medicinal products for the household. We stock a wide range of our own products made from the freshest and most intensely scented dried herbs gathered from our own acres of gardens. Perched high up above the Hawkesbury Valley, growing in cool fresh mountain air on brilliantly sunny slopes, and fed by rich basalt soil, our herbs and the products made from them are charged with fragrance. Just walking into The Stillroom refreshes the senses, with large bundles of freshly harvested herbs drying along the very old iron hard wattle rafters.

Please Note: Fabrics may be changed for products from time to time but will always be of the same high quality. Live plant collections cannot be sent between December 15th and January 31st. We are very happy however to send a card with a message of your choice (not more than 20 words) to celebrate an event during that period, and subsequently send the living plant collection in February.

Purchasing: Until our cart is operating, please feel free to write, phone or fax orders. The following credit cards may be used: Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. We have been a major nursery mail order business for thirty years and your gifts and plants can be expected to arrive in excellent condition. Unless there is a problem (which we will of course discuss with you) expect orders to be dispatched within 14 days. Phone and fax orders may be placed on 02 4572 1345. Please do not quote a credit card number by email. We are happy to receive orders by email, but request that you phone/fax credit card numbers for security reasons. Approaching Christmas and Easter, we endeavour to deliver orders within a week of receipt.

Finest Quality French Essential Lavender Oil
This is the finest quality essential oil of lavender harvested from organic lavender farms of the True Lavender L. angustifolia at over 1000 m in the Alpes de Haute-Provence region of France. (The vast majority of lavender oil sold worldwide is harvested from Intermedia lavenders grown at lower altitudes.) This oil has very high, pure, sweet notes lacking any trace of the camphor which is characteristic of most commercial lavender oils. It has been imported directly by us from one of the finest distillers in Provence. The price is high compared to standard oils but we believe that it is well worth it.

Back issues of 'The Cottager' Magazine

The Cottager magazine was quite a phenomenon, one of the first successful desk top publications in Australia, produced by Honeysuckle Cottage in its Wild Woodbine Studio, with Dr Judyth McLeod as managing editor and Keith McLeod as editor and photographer. The magazine was to gain a very loyal public both in Australia and overseas. The magazine specialised in old fashioned plants (both ornamental and for the vegetable garden), herbs, country crafts, country foods, garden history, and garden design, always with an emphasis on sustainability and the use of organic techniques. Unlike most magazines it was printed in Australia, but at the end, choosing not to carry any paid advertising and with the cost of printing ever mounting, could no longer compete with magazines produced by huge publishing firms with their own presses or those printed offshore.

Today the magazines are becoming collectables. We no longer have all editions available but there are enough to make for many hours of happy reading for yourself or a gardening friend. The magazine is in standard A4 format, 48 pages, in a mix of black and white and two colour, mainly with a full colour centre spread, with many substantial articles and no external advertising content whatever. There are limited numbers left and those listed below will be withdrawn as soon as sold out.

These collectable back issues are all $5.00, regardless of cover price. We will send up to 10 issues anywhere in Australia to a single address for a postage cost of $10.00. Postage for 11 to 20 issues is $15.00 to any single address anywhere in Australia. If you are sending a collection as a gift, we will be very happy to include a gift card with a message of your choice (up to twenty words).
